My Dad's Quilt

My dad eats peppers. Likes them really hot. So, while on vacation, I found this cute quilt shop in Taos, New Mexico. They had all these wonderful fabrics with, what else, chili peppers!! So fun!! One had fire coming off a pepper. Thought of my dad, so purchased some and made a quilt for him.

Here is the front:

This one shows the back:

I love the flaming peppers!! You can click on the pictures to see a close up of the fabric. It was a fun easy quilt that he will enjoy while warming his legs during the cold weather.

Random

So, didn't realize it has been so long since i have updated. so much has happened since april 15. we took a little "mini" vacation right after income tax season and went up to one of our favorite places to go...San Luis Obipsbo. it was so nice and relaxing. a good way to leave the "real" world behind and escape for a few days.

we had a visit from our dear daughter in love and our precious granddaughter. what fun days we had with them.

our son and grandsons came for a visit the first part of june, too short a time, but thankful for each minute they were here.

looking forward to our trip to texas in about 1 1/2 weeks...will have several days to enjoy the whole family.

then on to windor to visit houchins, then to durango and cumash to ride some trains and then home about the end of the month.

April 15th, 2010

Well, I made it thought another year of income tax season. My precious hubby was home before 5:00pm tonight!! This was our 37th year of his working late and all day saturdays. Yes, I am spoiled because I know that some husbands have to work like that all year long. I only have to endure it for 3 1/2 months. When my children were still small or still living at home, I had company. The last few years, my days were lonely. But I try to find things to keep me "out of trouble" like working on quilts for my grandchild, or tole painting, or just playing all day on the computer!! The focus also has changed the last several years. He is really tired and struggles with feeling frustated during this time, so my JOB is to build him up and provide a "safe" haven for him to return to each night. My focus is keeping my house really clean for him and to have a heathly hot dinner waiting. I think I did a much better job of it this year!!

So another year down, and I hope several more to "enjoy"!!

March 22, 2010

So there is a "new" health care plan for the nation. I don't think this will get us better health care, only worst. The more government has control over us, the more we take steps to being a socialist country instead of a FREE country. Our FREEDOMS are being taken away and some people seem to not care. God help us!!

March 14, 2010

Day started out sleepy!! We are now on day light savings time. Not sure why we have to do this. It's hard for us adults to "adjust", I"m sure it's harder on the little ones. But all in all, today was a beautiful day!! Church and our Fellowship Class was really good. And it was warm today. In the 70's and tomorrow they are saying maybe in the 80's!! Bring on the springtime!! It's almost 7:00PM and it is nice to have sunlight still...okay, maybe there is something nice about Day Light Savings time!! Just wish I didn't have to lose the hour sleep to get it!!

another graduation

we heard that another friend "entered" heaven's gate last friday morning. she was a dear lady. Her family will miss her but look forward to the reunion in heaven....

I was thinking about all the people that have gone before us and are worshiping at the feet of Jesus in heaven. some old, some very young, and all ages inbetween. so many relatives and friends that we will see in heaven. what a day that will be!!! and of course, our dear Lord and Savior will be there to worship for all eternity together!!! Glory to God in the highest!! What a thought!!!!

Graduation for a friend

Flether Anderson was such a fun man who loved the Lord with all his heart and soul. He entered into heaven's gate about 9:00pm, February 20th. We will miss his jokes and his service to our fellowship class at church.

You have run your "race" well and are in the arms of your Lord and savior.

I am wondering who the 3rd will be??? we have been praying for Fletch for so long, now we continue to pray for Evy as she faces the future.

One week past of the new year

So, here it is, January 10th, of 2010. I have not even put the pictures of Christmas up yet. We had such a great time in Texas with our son and his precious family. How I thank the Lord for this precious family. How I pray that our daughter could have a family of more than one. My heart wants that for her so much and yet, maybe that is not "her" hearts desire or the Lord's. Just praying for God's direction in her life.
Anyway, back to my son's family. Him and his wife celebrated 6 years today. My hubby and I celebrated 36 years last September, and my parents celebrated 59 years this month also. My hubby's parents made it to over 55 years before they passed away. How blessed to have the example of their marriages. Gives encouragement when the times are rough in our own married lives. I have tried to face just one day at a time and pray, pray, pray. Sometimes, I bet my hubby does the same!!! hahaha.
Maybe I'll get those pictures up soon. I have not even downloaded them from the camera. I have been working on several quilts and cleaning up my house. Trying to not spend so much time on this computer and a website called Facebook. Spend WAY too much time on that. But that is what the new year is all about....making NEW HABITS and trying to change old ones. The Lord is working on me, leading me into different directions. I am starting a new bible study with one of my friends. It will challenge me!!
well, blog, this post has gotten to long and a little random!! wish i was a better writer with my thoughts running along the same lines. my brain and my mouth don't always work well. sometimes, i wish i had spent more time learning in school. daryl might have been right, maybe i should have gone back to school for more learning. sometimes i just don't get it....mind is all over the place tonight...better get off...
